Our Sales team here at Jayco Albury Wodonga get asked this a lot! Which is why we decided to talk to our Sales Manager Clark to find out all you need to know about investing in a Jayco caravan.
Overseas v Australia
More than ever people are turning to Australian holidays and the adventures up for grabs in our own backyard.
Clark suggests you think about your last overseas trip ‘What was your total spend on the holiday and what do you have to show from the trip?’. You might come home with photos, memories, the experience and a break away from home. Now think about your next Australian holiday in a new Jayco caravan, ask the same questions and your answers might be the same except there is one extra bonus, you still have the caravan, so you can do it all again! Your one holiday turns into weekends, long weekends, music festivals locally and the list of freedom choices goes on.
Caravans Keep Their Value
Unlike a car, a caravan kept in good working condition will hold its value and supply you with enjoyment for many years. Caravans depreciate at a much slower rate than cars, so if you need to part with your van, for example, to upgrade to a bigger van you know you’ll get a good trade in price. Clark’s advice is ‘Even if you keep your van for 10 years or more. Keep it in good order and you will have something to sell when the time comes.
Freedom of a New Lifestyle
With the financial reasons sorted, now we look beyond money. Your caravan can contribute to your lifestyle is so many ways. There is a freedom attached to owning a van, if you want to grab even a quick break, it’s so simple to hook up and head out. There is no need to search and book for flights, wait in airports and not enjoy the journey. In a van the holiday starts when you head out of your drive. As Clark says ‘The old saying rings true. Money cannot buy happiness. Therefore, allow the van to depreciate, but keep drawing the happiness that comes with the use of your caravan’.
Mental Health
Holidays are great for your mental health, they clear your head, reduce stress, keep you fit and a study in the UK found the benefits last for a month on return. Imagine that boost to your life each time you took your caravan out for the weekend.
Get Out and Meet People
Clark’s favourite part of owning a caravan is meeting new people. He says ‘when you book into a motel, you generally shut the doors behind you and the opportunity to meet people does not really present itself. When you arrive at a Caravan Park immediately you have a park full of like minded people. You all have something in common, and in general people want to talk with you. Where are you from, where are you headed, wow I love your new Jayco etc etc etc. All feel good things that contribute to the value of your investment.
The Low Down
Getting away for a break from life is essential to our overall happiness, and caravans allow you the freedom to do this when it suits your life; you make the rules. Because the caravan is yours to keep you can do as much or as little as you want, and the caravan will hold its value for any future upgrade or sale you might need to make.
Are caravans worth it? We think so, we love caravanning and hope you can see the benefits too.
